Tellium, Inc., has won a contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to install a new high-capacity optical network to transit voice, video, and data for U.S. Government agencies. The $2.5 million contract calls for a wavelength division multiplexing optical ring network that will initially serve three sites including DARPA. The award was granted as part of DARPA's Multiwavelength Optical Networking Technology (MONET) program, which was established to define and demonstrate how best to achieve multiwavelength optical networking on a national scale to serve commercial and government applications.
