Planar Systems receives Army order

Planar Systems, Inc., has received a pre-production order from theU.S. Army for its MicroBrite miniature Active MatrixElectroluminescent (AMEL) VGA displays, which will be incorporatedinto the Army's Land Warrior system. The MicroBrite displays willprovide ground soldiers with a portable, low-power and lightweightsystem to generate bright, crisp images of high-resolution tacticalgraphic and sensor information. The AMEL was designed into asubsystem developed by Honeywell Sensor and Guidance Products,which is responsible for the development and production of theIntegrated Helmet Assembly Subsystem of the Land Warrior system. Production is expected to begin in 1998 with 75,000 to 150,000displays projected over the ensuing six years.
