Meadowlark to build beam-steering system for NASA

17 Jun 2002

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Pasadena, CA) has awarded polarization optics manufacturer Meadowlark Optics (Longmont, CO) a $70,000 Phase I SBIR grant to provide components for the Space Interferometry Mission interferometer, an orbiting interferometer that will more accurately measure distances to deep-space objects than ground-based systems. Over the six-month grant period, Meadowlark will produce a liquid-crystal-based beam-steering system for the interferometer. The company also has broken ground on a 20,000-sq ft research and production facility in Frederick, CO. The company expects to move from its current 5000-sq ft facility to the new location in mid-summer.
