Lapel camera may aid law enforcement officers

17 Jun 2002

Technology that allows for a button-sized camera (8 millimeters long and 6 millimeters in diameter) has been licensed to Turtle Mountain Communications, a firm in Maryville, Tenn. It will be used as part of a tiny camera that could be pinned to a police officer's shirt, making it possible to record encounters and transmit information to a recording device either in the patrol car or at the police precinct. Turtle Mountain expects production to begin with eight months.
