Sharma climbs to key position at Summit

D. Verne Sharma has joined Summit Technology (Waltham, MA) as its president, with global responsibility for Summit's excimer-laser business. Most recently, he was vice president of marketing at United States Surgical Corporation.

"The growth of our business and the opportunities that we have as a result have brought us to the point where we require an experienced individual to operate the laser business on day-to-day basis," said David Muller, who will continue to serve as chairman and CEO of Summit.
