Battery-powered scalpels on the battlefield

Air Force Phillips Laboratory has signed an agreement with Endeavor Surgical Products (Woodland, TX) to transfer portable medical-laser technology to the civilian market. The arrangement covers the Laser Medical Pen, a 12-in.-long, 1-in.-diameter battery-powered scalpel that stops bleeding during surgical procedures as well. Also included is the belt-slung Laser Medical Pac that can stop a bleeding artery in less than 10 seconds.
