Optical meta-atoms come in various shapes and sizes: (a) nanorods, (b) U-shaped structure, (c) nanostrips, (d) fish-net structure, (e) and (f) chiral structures. Each structure can be used to design metamaterials with different properties such as negative refractive index or magnetism in optics.
