•  Lebby new head at OIDA following Bergh retirement

Michael Lebby

The Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA) has elected Michael Lebby to the position of president following Arpad Bergh's retirement in February 2006. Bergh will continue at the OIDA as president emeritus. Bergh co-founded the OIDA and has served as its president since 1991. Lebby joined the OIDA as executive director in early 2005.

•  Kritzmacher takes charge of Lucent's finances

Lucent Technologies has appointed John Kritzmacher as its chief financial officer (CFO) with immediate effect. Kritzmacher has acted as Lucent's corporate controller since 2001 and succeeds Frank D'Amelio, who took on the new role of chief operating officer in January of this year. As CFO, Kritzmacher will be responsible for all of Lucent's financial operations, including corporate accounting, external reporting, financial planning, treasury, tax and investor relations. In addition, he will oversee internal audit, real estate, and mergers and acquisitions.

•  DataLase names Murray as US facility manager

DataLase of the UK (formerly Sherwood Technology) has named Kevin Murray as vice president and general manager of the company's North American headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, US. DataLase produces a range of coatings and additives that change colour when they interact with laser light. Murray's role is to establish the technology in North America. He brings over 16 years of experience in the coding and marking and general packing industries to DataLase. For the last 12 years, Murray has held various sales and management roles at both Domino Amjet and NTS Inc.

•  Thäle joins Osram Opto board to oversee production

Jörg Thäle

Jörg Thäle has been appointed to the managing board of Osram Opto Semiconductors and will take responsibility for production. Thäle will take over from Claus Regitz, who becomes Osram's chief technical officer on 1 April, 2006. After completing his studies in mechanical engineering, Thäle started working as a designer at Osram in Herbrechtingen and later acted as a project manager at various sites in Germany. Before moving to Osram Opto Semiconductors, he was a technical manager at Radium, a subsidiary of Osram.
