UV Fused Silica Glass Half Balls

04 Mar 2026

High transmittance: fused silica has high transmittance in the UV to NIR waveband (0.2-2.5μm), suitable for broad spectrum applications. Low scattering: fused silica has good optical uniformity, which reduces light scattering and improves imaging quality.

What are the applications of half ball lenses?
1. Microscopes and imaging systems: half ball lenses can be used in microscopes and various imaging systems to improve image quality and resolution. Due to their special geometry, hemispherical lenses are able to reduce aberration and improve imaging.
2. Laser technology: in laser systems, half ball lenses can be used to focus and collimate the laser beam. Their unique shape helps to precisely control the direction of propagation of the beam and the position of the focal point, thus increasing the precision of laser processing and measurement.
3. Optical communication: in fiber optic communication systems, half ball lenses can be used for coupling and separating optical signals. Its efficient optical transmission performance helps to improve the stability and transmission rate of the communication system.
4. Optics Experiments: half ball lenses are commonly used to regulate the intensity and direction of light in scientific research and optics experiments. Their precise optical properties allow researchers to perform more accurate optical measurements and analysis.
5. Biomedical imaging: in the biomedical field, half ball lenses can be used in endoscopes and other imaging devices to improve image clarity and resolution. Their compact size and efficient optical performance make them important for applications in minimally invasive surgery and diagnostics.
6. Optical sensors: half ball lenses can be used in a variety of optical sensors to improve the sensitivity and accuracy of the sensor. Their efficient light transmission and focusing properties help to improve the detection capability and response speed of the sensors.
7. Lighting systems: in lighting systems, half ball lenses can be used to control the distribution and direction of light, thereby improving lighting effectiveness and energy efficiency. Its unique shape helps to achieve uniform light distribution and efficient light utilization.

Price comparison of half ball and ball lenses
Half ball lens: relatively easy to process, high yield, relatively simple manufacturing process, relatively low prices.
Ball lens: processing and polishing is more difficult, the yield is lower, the manufacturing process is more complex, the price is relatively high.
