Large Format Aerial Surveillance lens

08 Jan 2026

Resolve Optics has supplied an optimized lens system designed to provide high resolution performance for a very large format sensor array used in aerial surveying.

Large format sensors are able to capture an immense amount of detail over an extremely large image. In the context of aerial surveillance, this allows operators to cover a much larger area with a single image. However these large format sensors need a lens to provide a large image while maintaining the very high resolution typically required by surveillance applications.

Few lenses are available off the shelf, that provide a large enough image for such applications and a custom design is often the only solution. High resolution, large format lenses place considerable demands on the optical design.

Mark Pontin – Managing Director of Resolve Optics Ltd said “In order to achieve high resolution throughout the field-of-view requires that the lens elements be centred to a high degree of accuracy. This accuracy was achieved via a novel mechanical design created by our talented optical design team based here in the UK”

To discuss development of a high-performance lens optimized for your large format applications please contact Resolve Optics on +44-1494-777100 or sales@resolveoptics.com.

Resolve Optics take a customer centric approach to optical design, development and supply. The company prides itself on nearly three decades of quickly translating each customer need into an optimised optical design, running projects successfully, and manufacturing production quantities of lenses or optical products on time, to the specified quality and target price.
