12 May 2025 piezosystem jena, the leading manufacturer of piezo-based precision positioning systems, presents the new PSH 20/2 and PSH 35/2 two axis tilting stages, two solutions for demanding applications in beam steering, image stabilization and optical communication. The systems combine large tilt angles, high resonant frequencies and nanometer-precise positioning - ideal for modern laser and photonics systems.
Technical highlights:
- Large tilt range: Up to 36 mrad in closed loop, 44 mrad in open loop
- High resonance frequencies: Up to 2 kHz due to preloaded design and optimized mechanics
- Mirror compatibility: For mirrors with up to Ø32 mm
- Sub-µrad resolution: 1.0 µrad in closed loop operation for optimum position stability
- Measuring systems: Optionally with integrated strain gages for precise closed control loops
The PSH 20/2 is designed for fast tilting movements with low energy requirements, while the PSH 35/2 with extended stroke and temperature tolerance offers a solution for precise tilting movements in demanding environments.
Both models allow biaxial tilting of the upper platform level with compensated thermal behavior - essential for applications with long-term stable beam position.
Suitable controller with ILC technology
The recommended NV 200/D NET controller delivers 400 mA peak current, 16-bit resolution and a noise level below 0.3 mV. The available interfaces are Ethernet, USB-C, SPI and analog. The PiSoWorks software supports Iterative Learning Control (ILC) - this allows the speed of open control loops to be realized with the precision of closed control loops, with repeatable input signals.
For the highest demands in photonics and laser technology
The latest PSH series was developed for users looking for a more precise and dynamic beam guidance system in a compact form - for example for adaptive optics, free-space communication, laser scanning or image stabilization.
In satellite communication, the systems enable the exact alignment of beam guidance between moving platforms with minimal latency. In optical terminals, they compensate for disturbances caused by ambient vibrations and thermal influences in real time. In scientific imaging, they ensure a stable beam position in high-resolution detection systems. In semiconductor production, PSH stages can be used for fine corrections to the beam guidance to ensure maximum beam accuracy. Thanks to their high dynamics and high resolution, the systems are ideal for applications where fast and precise movements are required.
