04 Nov 2024 Optical filters are used to selectively transmit specific wavelengths of light. Shanghai Optics manufactures a variety of filters for various applications, including:
Dichroic Filters:
- Single substrate with a hard, dense coating.
- Expensive but highly precise and durable.
- Manufactured using cutting-edge IBS technology.
- Thinner and offer higher transmission than traditional coated filters.
Colored Glass Filters:
- Simple glass substrate with injected dye.
- Less expensive and highly stable.
- More limited optical properties compared to dichroic filters.
Shortpass, Longpass, and Bandpass Filters:
- Shortpass filters: Block longer wavelengths, allowing shorter wavelengths to pass.
- Longpass filters: Block shorter wavelengths, allowing longer wavelengths to pass.
- Bandpass filters: Transmit a specific range of wavelengths (passband) and block others.
- Both shortpass and longpass filters are sometimes called edge filters.
