We supply a range of Dichroic Longpass Filters for a range of applications – all individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. What’s more, our Dichroic Longpass Filters are supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications.

Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers in fluorescence microscopy. Dichroic Longpass Filters are designed to transmit wavelengths longer than the filter’s ‘cut-on’ and to block bands below that point. Our Dichroic Longpass Filters are typically made for bands between 300-1200nm, and are usually specced for a 0° AOI. Use at a 45° results in a CWL shift of around 35-50nm. In fluorescence microscopy, incident light is reflected by the dichroic filter into the objective, and the fluorescence (which has a longer wavelength than the excitation wavelength) is transmitted through the dichroic mirror into the camera.

These can also be used as beam combiners in a similar manner as a beamsplitter, and when used in conjunction with a shortpass filter, can make a bandpass filter.
