Pyroelectric IR Detectors for Hydrogen Flames | |
21 Jul 2022 For centuries, we as a society have relied on fossil fuels to warm our homes, power our industry, and provide our transport. Looking ahead, there is a need for cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy. When pure hydrogen is combusted, the only by-product created is water. This is in stark contrast to the harmful gases and compounds emitted through fossil fuel combustion. A hydrogen flame is almost invisible to the human eye, produces no smoke, and emits very little radiant heat. This creates additional challenges for the monitoring and safety of hydrogen combustion. LASER COMPONENTS has developed a reliable method to detect hydrogen flames using our pyroelectric IR detectors. A special 2.95µm filter is used to detect the hot water molecules produced during hydrogen combustion. Additionally, a reference channel is used to prevent false positives, please contact us today to learn more.
