PLX M.O.S.T.™ | |
05 Jul 2022 From partner company PLX Inc. LASER COMPONENTS offers the unique Monolithic Optical Structure Technology (M.O.S.T.™), combining all the elements of a complex optical setup into a single monolithic unit. Unlike existing systems that use traditional mirror mounts, M.O.S.T.™ achieves superb optical stability, unsurpassed shock and vibration resistance and sub-arcsecond accuracy between optical elements. This completely negates the need for the constant re-adjustment inherent of traditional systems. M.O.S.T.™ is a single, solid, pre-aligned block, which can save engineers significant time during initial integration, and much more in long-term maintenance. Due to accurate re-alignment and permeant bonding, the system is extremely stable and will never need to be re-adjusted. It is possible to integrate different glass types and exotic materials such as KBr, ZnSe, CaF2 and Spinel into a M.O.S.T.™ assembly, which is especially useful when the system must perform in broadband light applications such as FTIR. These optical structures can be manufactured from 2 to 5 optical elements, with typical clear apertures from 0.5” to 5” diameter. Optical engineers typically use M.O.S.T.™ in applications such as interferometer configurations, laser cavities, beam dividers, beam delivery systems and boresighting. M.O.S.T.™ can be used to simplify and improve any optical lab setup that you need to convert into an instrument.
