Fresnel Lenses | |||
15 Jun 2022 Fresnel lenses consist of interspaced, concentric steps which correspond to the surface of a conventional lens. This equates to a lens with a common focal length, equivalent to a simple lens, but at the fraction of the thickness. Fresnel lenses are ideal for both light focussing and collimation, with excellent light gathering capabilities due to their relatively large aperture and low loss through absorption. These lightweight and cost-effective lenses are an excellent solution for numerous applications including condenser and magnification systems. Knight Optical have an inventory of PMMA Fresnel lenses. Our Fresnel lenses are available in focal lengths ranging from 3mm to 650mm, with standard and precision options available with improved surface quality and tighter focal length tolerancing for the precision optics. We also stock cylindrical, lenticular, and reverse configuration (solar) Fresnel lenses, to cover a variety of applications and systems. At Knight Optical we can also provide custom optical components, including Fresnel lenses, manufactured to your specifications. This includes differing materials and the addition of an AR coating. Below are our typical custom capabilities:
All Fresnel lenses are checked within our metrology laboratory and QA department to ensure they meet their specifications before being shipped to our customers. Our blog ‘Fresnel Lenses: A Brief Introduction’ gives more of an insight into Fresnel lenses and their uses. Contact our UK and US sales team for further information and help with your enquiries.
