Compactness and Flexibility Combined in One Interconnect

Diamond introduces the Compact DM4 to further enhance our line of reliable and versatile connectors. The Compact DM4 is built around a light and compact aluminum housing that can be used as an easily pluggable standalone product or as an insert in our Harsh Environment connectors.

The DM4 Multipurpose Insert incorporates four termini, either optical or electrical, making it ideal for hybrid applications. The optical termini are assembled with Diamond’s proprietary state-of-the-art Active Core Alignment (ACA) process, providing a combination of unparalleled fiber core concentricity and superior optical performance. The optical termini are also available with our new Expanded Beam (XB) lensed technology ensuring easy maintenance, along with a high rate of mating cycles with a low risk for damage.

Based on a 2.5mm fiber optic ferrule, the DM4 termini utilizes integrated springs to avoid contact interruptions, which allows for quick and easy assembly and repair. The titanium-ceramic fiber optic ferrule assembly consists of a factory-terminated and measured fiber-optic Crocodile Alberino Harsh Environment (HE) to allow customers to assemble precision-engineered termini to ensure low optical losses, reliable and repeatable performance over a long period of time in a variety of applications. This assembly can be performed with our Zeus D50 HE fusion splicer.

The DM4 termini are available in PC and APC polish and allow for a mix of standard and special fiber types, such as HCS, MM, SM, PM and low core diameter fibers, as well as other specialty fiber types and power solution technologies. When APC-polished, a steady and repeatable low Insertion Loss (IL) and high return loss (RL) are guaranteed.
