Knight Optical’s Shortpass Filters for Heat Shielding

With an extensive portfolio of components, Knight Optical’s Shortpass Filters are regularly employed for heat shielding applications. With a vast stock range in a variety of shapes and sizes, as well as different types – such as Dichroic and Colour Glass – we can meet a range of requirements in short turnaround times.

Shortpass Filters are designed to transmit wavelengths shorter than the cut-off and to absorb or reflect bands above. In many systems that require heat shielding while still demanding visibility, a Shortpass Filter can be used. These can attenuate infrared (IR) radiation as well as allow visible light to pass through, which, therefore, enables temperature-sensitive equipment to be visible.

We offer multiple types of Shortpass Filters that are suitable for a range of applications, and we also have the knowledge to advise you on appropriate Filters for your project. For example, for high-power systems, Absorptive Shortpass Filters, such as Colour Glass, may lead to damage from the intensity of light; therefore, a reflecting variety such as a Dichroic Filter is a more fitting component. Furthermore, if your application requires your filter to be used at a non-0 angle of incidence (AOI), Colour Glass or Polyester Filters may be better suited as their centre wavelength (CWL) does not shift with angle. What’s more, our Shortpass Filters can also be paired with a Longpass variety to produce a Bandpass Filter.
