Mid-infrared light emitting diodes (MIR LED) from 3 µm to 6 µm | |
18 Feb 2021 nanoplus presents continuous-wave MIR LEDs for gas sensing. The substrate-side-emitting devices display higher wall-plug efficiencies and maximum output powers than previous MIR LEDs operating in continuous-wave at room temperature. nanoplus MIR LEDs are based on the company’s well-established technology for interband cascade lasers. The MIR wavelength range from 3 µm to 6 µm is a key for high-precision gas analysis in industry and research. Important trace gases show much higher absorption features in the MIR compared to the near-infrared. nanoplus MIR LEDs represent broadband, incoherent and cost-effective alternatives to lasers for many gas sensing applications. |
