Unlike Singlet Lenses which often feature spherical aberration resulting in optical distortion, Aspheric Lenses correct irregularities due to their non-spherical formation; therefore, allow a single component lens to collimate or focus highly divergent rays. This potentially allows for the replacement of a multi-lens system with one single component. For LiDAR-based devices, in particular, this provides better quality signalling and a cost-effective, compact alternative, when compared to more cumbersome multi-lens setups.

Available as custom-made components only, we offer Diamond-Turned Aspheric Lenses from a range of suitable NIR materials for LiDAR-driven autonomous vehicle applications. These include N-BK7 (or equivalent), Sapphire, Quartz, UV Fused Silica, plus more.
