Knight Optical’s Low Order Quartz Retarders for Optical Systems

A cost-effective alternative to traditional quartz types, our Low Order Quartz Retarders are highly sought-after for high-tech optical systems. It's thanks to their ability to change the polarisation of incident light and output different polarised light with minimal attenuation that they're regularly specified for leading optical systems. 

 Multiple Order Retarders work as intended at the target wavelength; however, they are known to suffer from a narrower usable bandwidth than zero-order retarders. Whereas, with Low Order Retarders, they are specifically designed to minimise this detriment all while being a practical compromise on cost.

 Here at Knight Optical, we understand the importance of ultra-precision and the need for tailor-made solutions. It's for this reason that we offer our Low Order Quartz Retarders as custom-made components for seamless integration with any device, regardless of size or requirements. This made-to-measure service allows you to specify the dimensions, substrates, tolerances and optical coatings – if required – that are best suited to your application.  As well as custom-made options, we also offer a wide range of stock Low Order Quartz Retarders (please note, our stock range is limited, and will not be replenished).
