10 Feb 2020 LASER COMPONENTS designs and manufactures a wide range of Pulsed Laser Diodes (PLDs) used for various range finding applications from automotive, through industrial to military. For free space applications, eye safety is a significant concern and for laser diode based systems, beam shaping is often necessary to create a suitable beam profile. We have created a novel product which couples a high power multi-junction PLD with a square-core fibre optic that homogenises the beam within a very short distance (15mm) whilst minimising losses, which are usually associated with the more traditional diffusers, diffractive elements or waveguides. The standard 905nm product provides a flat top beam profile from a 140um x 140um emitting area with a peak power of 25W (min) and is offered in a compact and robust housing.
