Infrared Sensing From 1 – 5 µm Wavelength

06 Dec 2019

trinamiX offers state-of-the-art lead sulfide (PbS) and lead selenide (PbSe) near-infrared detectors and arrays incorporating a unique encapsulation for longer sensor lifetime as well as the highest detectivity at room temperature.

trinamiX IR detectors excel in various applications and industries:

  • Flame monitoring / Spark detection: Measuring IR radiation is an easy way to monitor a flame and to ensure that a burner is working correctly. Preventive fire protection systems use IR sensors to detect sparks and protect equipment and plants against fire.
  • Gas sensing: Presence and amount of various gases can be detected by measuring the absorption of IR radiation.
  • Moisture monitoring: Infrared detectors determine moisture levels in production and manufacturing.
  • NIR spectroscopy: An established analytical method for quality control and process monitoring

The product portfolio includes both ‘bare chip’ as well as packaged detectors, plus single pixel or multi-pixel options, arrays, and evaluation kits. Industry-standard components, customized designs and specifications like individualized PCB, housings, filter and TE cooling are all available through our state-of-the-art development and manufacturing process.

Bare chip for small spaces

TO-packages provide extra protection but also take up space. Their placement and precise adjustment can be complex for specific applications. The thin film encapsulation applied on trinamiX IR detectors enables customers to use them even as bare chips. Exposure to environmental influences like water and oxygen, and thus related degradation, are eliminated. Package size and total footprint are reduced. The reliably consistent size and shape of trinamiX bare chip IR detectors make them well suited to automated assembly via pick-and-place robot. This combination of benefits means that with our bare chips, many devices can be smaller, have a wider field of view, cost less to assemble, and have better alignment tolerances.
