Sapphire crystal (Al2O3) is a sought-after substrate for a range of high-precision applications; for example, for aerospace and aeronautical vehicles and high-powered laser applications, such as Er: YAG lasers. With a high transmission from 150nm up to around 5µm, it's an outstanding choice for ultraviolet (UV), visible and infrared (IR) applications.

With excellent mechanical strength, scratch-resistance and hardness as well as an optimal thermal and chemical resistance, Sapphire is a perfect choice for lens-based applications. Furthermore, its durability means it repels attacks from everyday processing environments, such as those featuring hydrofluoric acid.

Not only do we offer customised solutions within our Sapphire Spherical Lens range but we also provide tailored optical coatings specific to your project's requirements – such as Anti-Reflective (AR) coatings to increase efficiency in UV and IR applications – as well as various grades including Random, C-Cut, Z-Cut and Fluorescence-Free options.
