The AvaSpec-ULS2048x64TEC-EVO: a cooled, highly sensitive spectrometer, perfect for low-light applications!

21 Oct 2019

The AvaSpec-ULS2048x64TEC-EVO is an updated version of our AvaSpec-ULS2048x64TEC spectrometer, but with improved electronics and cooling, which means it enables long integration times of up to 120 seconds!

This updated spectrometer is a welcome addition to our line of high-sensitivity spectrometers with its cooled, back-thinned detector. The detector enables high sensitivity in the UV and IR regions of the light spectrum, while the improved cooling enables long integration times with low noise levels.

To optimize this spectrometer, a Peltier cooling device was integrated into our exclusive ultra-low stray light optical bench, which helps reduce the temperature of the detector to
-30°C against ambient, improving the dark baseline and Photo Response Non Uniformity (PRNU) level significantly.

A special low-noise version of our 2048x64 detector with integrated cooling was used as well to make the noise level significantly lower. The detector’s pixel height of 64 (0.89 nm) makes sure it catches as many photons as possible.

To ensure even more flexibility, this instrument has a replaceable slit, which in turn makes this spectrometer suitable for various kinds of applications.

All these features make the new AvaSpec-ULS2048x64TEC-EVO ideally suited for measuring at low light levels, such as during fluorescence or low-light Raman applications where integration times of higher than 5 seconds are required.
