Beam Expanders

For laser applications, beam expanders serve two primary purposes: increasing the power

density in the focal point by increasing the beam diameter before the focussing lens, and

reducing the beam divergence through beam expansion which is useful for beam guidance

over long distances prior to focussing. LASER COMPONENTS off ers a wide range of beam

expanders for YAG and CO2 systems as well as other wavelengths.

Our beam expanders optimised for 1064nm feature an adjustment screw to vary the distance

between the lenses and compensate for the divergence of the incident beam. They

are available as standard with a fi xed magnifi cation between 2x and 10x. Much like the

1064nm beam expanders, our standard systems for 532nm and 355nm feature adjustment,

and are available with fi xed magnifi cation of up to 18x and 20x respectively. The standard

range is completed with 2x-8x variable zoom beam expanders for 1064nm, 800nm, 532nm

and 355nm.

LASER COMPONENTS now also off er custom motorised zoom beam expanders for integration

into most commercially available laser systems.
