Varioptic expands its C-Mount Autofocus module family with the introduction of a 25mm focal length lens.

04 Apr 2016

Lyon, France – March 31st , 2016 - Varioptic, a Business Unit of Parrot Drones SAS, announces today the addition of the Caspian C-Mount 25mm EFL to its range of Auto Focus lens modules.

“This second C-Mount lens follows the success of our 16mm version launched 18 months ago. We have carried out many improvements on this new lens, by taking careful consideration of customer experiences. We have now a product with an improved resolution, improved distortion, and wider operating voltage” says Samuel Grand, Varioptic Business Unit Director.

With a manual iris and integrated electronics, this lens can be driven by I²C, SPI, or RS232 interfaces – and can be powered with a DC voltage from 3.3 to 24V, in order to fit all available C-Mount cameras on the market.

The liquid lens technology from Varioptic, with no wear, low power consumption, and unique resistance to vibrations and mechanical shocks makes it ideal for demanding machine vision applications.

“Thanks to its integrated electronics, this new C-Mount lens can be hooked very easily to the output connector of most industrial cameras with no hardware modifications – easing the adoption of AutoFocus. We are currently working with several C-Mount camera manufacturers to adapt their software to enable closed-loop AutoFocus - several brands will be compatible by the end of this year”, says Frédéric Laune, Varioptic Sales & Marketing Director
