New 16mm clear aperture lens EL-16-40-TC

Zurich, November, 2015 – Optotune is proud to announce the launch of its largest electrically focus tunable lens, the EL-16-40-TC. The design used in the new EL-16-40-TC lens has been optimized in many ways:

• 60% larger clear aperture than its predecessor, the EL-10-30

• Flat zero state

• Strong actuator offers a focal tuning range of up to -10 to+10 diopters

• Low thermal drift allows for high reproducibility

• Response and settling times remain low with 5 and 25ms, respectively

For machine vision customers the EL-16-40-TC is available with an industrial self-locking connector and a variety of threads, making it easy to combine the lens with off-the-shelf imaging optics. Thanks to the large clear aperture, the EL-10-42-OF supports image sensors with up to 30mm image circle diameter. The EL-16-40-TC can be controlled with Optotune’s Lens Driver 4 and 4i, whereas a firmware update is required to enable the Focal Power Mode.
