20 May 2015 Optoscribe’s 3D MMux Photonic Lantern (PL) is the ideal waveguide solution designed and tailored to the very latest OFS Fibers. The 3D MMux Photonic Lantern OFS Port paves the way for a new class of components exploiting multiple spatial paths within multimode fibers and efficiently accessing these channels with individual single mode fibers. Providing a unique interface between multimode and singlemode technologies, the 3D MMux PL enables simple and easy mode division multiplexing using Few Mode Fibers (FMFs). The 3D MMux PL revolutionises the amount of data that can be transferred across networks by enabling parallel data transmission through a single fiber core. Unlike other approaches such as bundled fiber technologies, the 3D MMux PL can be easily customised to suit a particular geometry, with cores placed at arbitrary positions on demand. Optoscribe offers standard 3 or 6 core configurations, with other configurations of single mode cores available as a custom option. Optoscribeproducts are assembled using industry standard components and robustly packaged for straightforward use and easy implementation. They can also be integrated into hybrid assemblies containing a host of components such as photonic integrated circuits (PICs) or active components. Simple integration of 3D waveguide technology into a wide range of advanced communications applications.
