Gecco: Additional capabilities, further benefits

Laser Quantum has announced increased capability and performance for the gecco femtosecond ultrafast laser. The gecco now boasts options for power, repetition rate and pulse duration and all in a sealed hands-off module.

The gecco femtosecond ultrafast laser has always been characterised by its stable output, compact design and high average power, while demanding a minimum of user interaction. Recent development work has now made it possible for Laser Quantum to completely seal the cavity ensuring the user interaction is limited to simply pressing the start button. The gecco is therefore a true hands-off system that requires no cleaning, aligning of optics or external cavity adjustments, yet offers a high quality beam and is supplied with a two year full specification warranty.

Additionally, the gecco is now available with 600 or 800mW average power, 84 or 100MHz repetition rates and an option for sub-20fs or sub-15fs pulse duration. This offers great flexibility to an end user to define a laser ideal for their application. Each of the eight different laser combinations benefit from Laser Quantum’s unique self-starting and maintaining mechanism that initialises mode-locking without manipulation of any intra-cavity components.  Together, the integrated pump laser and the self-starting mechanism ensure the laser is mode-locked within 5 minutes from switch-on.

Applications such as two photon microscopy, time domain spectroscopy, frequency comb generation and amplifier seeding will all benefit from the reliability and simplicity of the gecco, allowing scientists to spend more of their valuable research time generating and analysing results.
