04 Jun 2013 Fianium announces the arrival of a new 1064nm industrial picosecond laser ideal for precision laser processing. Based on state of the art fiber laser technology, the new HYLASE™ provides high stability and long lifetime making it ideal for 24/7 industrial use. The remote laser head, with small foot-print and low weight, offers easy integration yet gives class-leading power and pulse energy performance.
Maximum pulse energies of 50µJ or 125µJ in <20ps pulses and total powers >8W or >25W are available with the HYLASE-8 and HYLASE-25 systems respectively. Both versions have a fundamental repetition rate of 1MHz that can be pulse picked down to 100 kHz as standard; with the inclusion of a secondary AOM burst mode can be enabled such that the user can tailor the pulse energy and gain greater control over the light/material interaction. The Gaussian (TEM00) beam profile and excellent beam quality (M2<1.3) allows small feature sizes for high-precision material processing applications, whilst the very high pulse energy coupled with the ultra-short pulse duration means that focussed intensities of the order of GW/cm2 and fluences in the kJ/cm2 range can be achieved allowing the processing of almost any material with thermal effects. An optional Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) module can be offered to convert the wavelength to 532nm.
The multi-Megawatt peak-power delivered by the HYLASE™ system is suitable for processing the most demanding materials including transparent glasses and plastics. Typical applications include photovoltaic & electronics production, display glass processing and security & decorative marking.
The main system features include:
- Short pulsewidth and high pulse energy
- Compact Form factor
- High throughput processing
- Very Low Maintenance
- Variable repetition rate
About Fianium
Fianium is the leading manufacturer of high-performance ultrafast fiber lasers for applications in bio-medical, materials processing and scientific research. The company was founded in 2003 with the objective to challenge the dominance of ultrafast DPSS and pioneered the development of new generation of fiber lasers that combine the advantages of semiconductor technology with the maturity of specialty optical fibers. Fianium’s ultrafast fiber lasers deliver superior performance, reliability and usability at a lower total cost of ownership compared with conventional solid state lasers.
