DELTA Introduces New Generation of Angle Tolerant Dichroic Beamsplitters | |
17 Apr 2013 DELTA Optical Thin Film, are a leading supplier of advanced optical filters and components, and have developed a new set of improved beamsplitters. They combine established wide transmission bands, wide reflectance bands and steep edges with a design that minimizes angle dependency (from 33° to 58°) and polarisation split. This makes them ideal for biomedical instrumentation including compact Point-of-Care (PoC) systems that work with large angles of incidence. Unparalleled performance Traditional dichroic beamsplitters suffer from severe blue shift of the edge wavelength and polarisation split even at modest cone angles of the incident light. Usually their transmission and reflectance bands are not very wide. Already with its first generation of Angle Tolerant Dichroic Beamsplitters DELTA alleviated these limitations and delivered to the market place beamsplitters that have outperformed the competition. With the second generation of Angle Tolerant Dichroic Beamsplitters DELTA helps its customers to increase the performance of optical instruments and systems where angles are large, e.g. in PoC instruments or film projectors. Superior UHC production technology The beamsplitters are coated on single BK7 substrates for minimal auto-fluorescence and high laser damage threshold. A stress compensation antireflective coating on the rear side can be applied to minimise the bending. All of DELTA's Angle Tolerant Dichroic Beamsplitters are coated with ultra-hard surface coatings (UHC) that offers much higher packing density than traditional hard coatings or let alone soft coatings. The benefits of UHC are best spectral stability (no spectral drift), increased lifetime, optimal mechanical stability and minimal water uptake. This brings use of advanced filter technology out of the laboratory and into the field.
