These preamplifiers are not large desktop amplifiers, instead, they measure typically just 51mm x 94mm x 27mm in size, ideal for including them inside other electronic equipment. In doing so, these preamplifiers provide gain close to the detector so that cable capacitance is significantly reduced, otherwise the signal to noise would be much higher if physical distance separated them inviting noise pickup. Signal processing and measuring after pre-amplifying has no effect on the signal/noise performance.
The newest addition is a near ideal ultra low-noise current amplifier, that exhibits almost ideal behaviour without the need for special control or frequency compensation. Ingenious design ensures that the bandwidth and frequency response are independent of source capacitance up to 10nF. No gain peaking will occur.
