25 Sep 2012 Optical Building Blocks is pleased to introduce the all new Quattro luminescence spectrometer.
The Quattro is a new luminescence spectrometer that measures steady state fluorescence spectra, phosphorescence spectra, time-resolved phosphorescence decays and 3-D luminescence parameters. It offers the performance of a high end modular research fluorometer for about half the price, in a compact, fully automated bench-top system.
The Quattro has an unheard of detection limit of 5 fM fluorescein and the ability to collect an entire phosphorescence decay curve from a single 1 microsecond flash or an entire 3-D matrix in only a few seconds. It is also the only bench-top fluorometer that can acquire lifetime-based reaction kinetics.
Key Features of the Quattro:
- 7,500:1 SNR water Raman (best in class)
- 5 femtomolar fluorescein spectral detection limit (best in class)
- 3-D matrix of wavelength versus decay acquired in seconds (Unique Quattro capability)
- 1 µs lamp flash to collect entire decay curve (Unique Quattro capability)
- Lifetime-based reaction kinetics (Unique Quattro capability)
- Lifetime-based temperature ramping (Unique Quattro capability)
- Real-time 1 to 4 exponential decay fits
- Pre-scan 3-D wavelength optimization
- Fully automated and self calibrating
Lifetime-based reaction kinetics is a new acquisition protocol that is unique to the Quattro. Many fluorometers are used for time-based fluorescence kinetics where you collect the steady state intensity as a function of time to study kinetics, binding interactions and other phenomena. The problem with steady state fluorescence assays or experiments is that the measured intensity can vary based on other spurious effects. Only the Quattro can acquire the calculated phosphorescence lifetime, in real time, as a function of time. This totally unique acquisition mode is not negatively impacted by spurious changes in light intensity. This unique capability will become an essential tool for a wide variety of emerging lifetime assays and applications.
