16 Feb 2012 New Standards for High Power Applications
LASER COMPONENTS has enhanced AR coatings designed for use on optical fibres. With these coatings reflections are reduced by nearly 3% at the glass/air interface. The F&E division has continued to make developments in this area resulting in new standard designs.
Fibre cables are available with a robust and flexible protective metal jacket around the fibre constructed from corrugated stainless steel.
If less robust protective jackets are required other materials are available such as Teflon, PEEK, and PTFE.
Naturally, these fibres are also available as so-called “bare fibres”, i.e. without a protective jacket.
Fibre cables can include SMA or D-80 connectors in which the fibre can be supported with copper ferrules or free standing for high optical power applications.
