03 Jun 2011 Multi-chip red laser modules offered by Modulight as standard products produce 1-3 W output power for wavelength range between 635 nm and 680 nm. The modules can host up to 4 laser diodes which are coupled to a single 200 μm core fiber with NA=0.22 and terminated with a standard SMA-905 connector. A typical configuration includes a thermistor and a TEC-element for temperature control and a photodiode for power monitoring.
The benefits of the single-emitter approach compared to the array approach are a better heat management, higher power per emitter, and better brightness.
