The GONIOMAT M measurement system is a semiautomatic portable goniometer that is able to measure angles of prisms, polygons and wedges with an accuracy of up to 1.5 arcsec. The device is equipped with an optical sensor and a high precision encoder. The signals of the two independent sensors are combined for the actual measurement which eliminates the necessity of time-consuming adjustments of the prism’s surfaces towards the sensor. With its particular design the optical sensor of the GONIOMAT M allows to quickly measure angles of optical prisms –also including 90° prisms even with internal reflections– without any efforts.
The GONIOMAT M features the very powerful software GONIOMATIK which assists the operating personnel by verifying, automating and visualizing the measurement process directly on the spot. It is able to generate extensive measurement reports and performs Pass-Fail Testing according to given specifications. Internally the software keeps all measurement data in a 3D representation. Thus the plane in which the measurement takes place can be calculated automatically (virtual tilt table). This eliminates the need for a classic tilt table which is used on traditional goniometers for plane adjustment – often a time-consuming process.
Additionally the software is equipped with sophisticated ray-tracing algorithms which are used for more advanced verification and analysis of measurement data. This allows for prediction of surfaces that are yet to be measured and for calculation of deflection angles from the measured geometry of the prism.
