IR Laser Optics for Energy Efficient Laser Systems and CO2 Lasers

04 Oct 2010

LASER COMPONENTS supplies a large range of infrared optics for CO2 lasers, specifically designed and optimised for 10.6µm together with high laser damage thresholds, thus enabling the highest efficiencies within laser system designs.

ZnSe lenses and windows are produced exclusively with high quality “laser grade” material that can even be used in the kW range. When coated, these optics have a transmittance of T>99.5% at 10.6µm. Output couplers and beam splitters have a special coating which reflects a defined percentage of the incident light and transmit the remaining part. As well as a large selection of standard parts we can also offer custom designs for your individual requirements.

Also available are lens systems which include beam expanders to increase power density at the focal point and create a uniform radius and divergence over a long distance. F-Theta lenses are used to create a small and consistent spot at the working plane. A variety of each is available for individual needs.

Diffractive optics (DOEs) for CO2 lasers are used to manipulate the beam to offer virtually any kind of diffractive effect. These include multi beam splitters, samplers, homogenisers, beam shapers, diffusers and vortex lenses. Made to the highest standards, these are ideal for high power applications.

New to LASER COMPONENTS is a wide range of beam delivery systems suitable for CO2 lasers. Individual parts for beam directing, enhancement or manipulation can be chosen to build a delivery system for your particular requirement.

Metal coated mirrors are a good alternative to a dielectric coating as they can be used for a wide range of wavelengths and any angle of incidence. They do however have a lower degree of reflection and due to the softer coating are only suitable for femtosecond pulses. Copper mirrors are available with feedthroughs for water cooling.
