The need for a low cost, high speed system for measuring luminous intensity distribution information
To qualify LEDs for use in most applications it is important to know the total light output of the LED and also the distribution of luminous intensity– and color, for white LEDs – output of the LED as a function of angle. While the total flux is commonly measured with integrating spheres, no low cost and fast system is currently available for measuring LED luminous intensity distributions.
