12 Nov 2008 Protective windows are used in laser material processing to protect the focussing lens against contamination and as such have to be replaced often; thus, an inexpensive replacement has to be found. LASER COMPONENTS offers protective windows in various dimensions, with or without an AR coating. The common materials used are BK7 and quartz glass.
BK7, an inexpensive material, is sufficient for many applications. In order to keep power losses to a minimum, the windows are generally AR coated.
