10 Oct 2008 SimuLase_Designer is software for quick and easy design of semiconductor heterostructures. It displays basic characteristics like, confinement potentials, wavefunctions and levels or optical modes. SimuLase_Designer is an easy to use GUI for:
• designing heterostructures by simply adding/ deleting/ changing layers of various widths and material compositions,
• instantly displaying the heterostructure energy levels, confinement potential, subband levels and wavefunctions,
• calculating and displaying the background refractive index profile, confined optical mode and optical confinement factor,
• calculating electrical fields due to doped layers and applied voltages,
• calculating changes in the potentials due to local charge inhomogenities in the presence of free carriers, etc.
