Tunable IR Detector with Fabry Perot Filter Wins Sensor Innovation Prize 2008

06 Aug 2008

The tunable IR detector has applications in the spectral analysis of gases, liquids, or surfaces.

It is available for two wavelength ranges: 3.0-4.3 µm and 3.9-5.0 µm. FWHM of the filter is approximately 90-100 nm; this value can continuously be electrostatically tuned. These compact LFP detectors in a TO-8 housing thus close the gap between multicolor detectors containing fixed interference filters and complex, expensive spectrometers. The LPF detector is based on a conventional Fabry Perot interferometer (FPI). Tuning the filter is achieved by changing the physical distance between a fixed and a movable mirror.
