02 Sep 2008 A high performance waveguide mode solver, including FD, FE and FMM (film mode matching) solvers. FIMMWAVE includes no less than 4 different waveguide mode solvers each optimised for a different task. The FMM solver is widely used for semiconductor laser design where it can efficiently deal with the thin quantum wells. The Finite Element solver works well with graded index structures and where there are curved interfaces. Another solver works in cylindrical coordinates for e.g. multi-mode fibre analysis. Anisotropy, gain, loss, PMLs, dispersive materials are all supported. A far-field calculator is included. |
