26 Nov 2007 A solid-state, 532 nm laser that is specifically optimized for cost-sensitive, high-volume OEM applications. New 20 mW Green Laser Optimized for High-Volume Applications
Santa Clara, Calif., October 15, 2007 – Coherent, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) (Nasdaq: COHR) has introduced a new solid-state, 532 nm laser that is specifically optimized for cost-sensitive, high-volume OEM applications. Specifically, the new Compass 115M delivers 20 mW of continuous-wave output power at a price significantly lower than other lasers in this class. This 20 mW laser completes the 115M Compass series and utilizes the same package as the popular 5, 10 and 15 mW models. The Compass 115M-20 also delivers the same high-performance characteristics in terms of mode quality (M2 <1.2), stability, noise (<0.5% rms) and lifetime (>20,000 hours).
The Compass 115M-20 is designed for system builders serving markets such as bioinstrumentation, medical scanning, analytical chemistry, semiconductor inspection and metrology. In particular, the 115M-20 offers the best price/performance ratio and lowest cost of ownership of any laser in its class. It also includes several features that simplify integration, including conductive cooling, external control through either an analog or digital interface, and an autostart function.
