12 Jun 2007 LASER COMPONENTS currently has a new FIBERCHECK available.
Unlike the old version, with this new model you can work in either the blinking mode (3 Hz) or the cw mode. With the help of FIBERCHECK, breaks or imperfections in optical fibers can be quickly detected. It can also be used to locate single fibers inside fiber bundles.
This handy, robust device is equipped with a 2.5 mm universal adaptor and is therefore suitable for all fiber optical connectors with a 2.5 mm ferrule diameter (such as, for example, FC, SC, ST, DIN, and E2000). Connectors with both PC and APC polish can be connected without a problem. An additional adaptor is available separately for fiber optical connectors with a 1.25 mm ferrule diameter. Because of the highly visible red laser light with a wavelength between 630 and 680 nm and an optical output power of < 5 mW, the FIBERCHECK can be used up to a distance of 3 km. Both single mode fibers and multi mode fibers can be connected.
