From 12 W to 210 W – Multi-Junction Pulsed Laser Diodes

04 Apr 2007

The variety of pulsed laser diodes (PLDs) manufactured by LASER COMPONENTS Canada is continuously increasing in order to meet numerous market demands.

Our proven Nanostack laser technology at 905 nm includes several epitaxially integrated emitters. Through stacking peak output power levels between 70 and 210 W can be achieved. These PLDs are optimized for applications such as Ceilometers or LIDAR, in which long distances (>> 1 km) are measured. For shorter distances, this technology is also available with a 75 µm emitter. On account of the smaller emitting area, the output power (12 W) can be more easily coupled into a fiber and combined with micro-optics. The picture shows a near field analysis of our double emitter. The homogeneous color distribution indicates that there are neither holes nor hot spots. Together with a high power density these lasers are perfectly suited for rangefinding applications.
