Encinitas, CA, November 6, 2006 – Impulse Optics introduces a variable attenuator / beamsplitter. The variable attenuator / beamsplitter is designed to work with lasers at a variety of wavelengths to provide an affordable and easy solution to dividing beams.
The Variable Attenuator / Beamsplitter divides an incident polarized light beam into two beams by 90°, the intensity ratio of the two beams can be continuously varied by rotating the input half-wave plate. This high-performance unit can be used as a beamsplitter in holography and precision interferometry applications and as an efficient attenuator for general laboratory applications.
The unit includes two half-wave plates set in graduation disks. The input half-wave plate is used to adjust the intensity ratio, while the output half-wave plate revolves the polarization plane of one beam to make it either parallel to the polarization of the adjacent beam or go in any other required direction.
A polarizing beamsplitting cube is built in with the following wavelength options: 532 nm, 632.8 nm, 800 nm, and 1064 nm; other wavelengths are available upon request. The device can also be used as a variable attenuator. The Variable Attenuator / Beamsplitter can be mounted on any posts.
