12 Dec 2007 New product line from asphericon - Standard Precision Axicons enable fast support of precision components for scientific research and laser applications Jena, Germany – (September 20, 2006) – asphericon has recently launched a new product line of off-the-shelf high precision optical components – Standard Precision Axicons. Axicons also known as rotationally symmetric prisms cover two primary functions. First, axicons create long regions of focus along the optical axis to produce a non diffractive Bessel beam. This extracted line focus has important use for optical system alignment and other demanding applications. The second function of axicons is to convert a parallel laser beam into a circular image which is used for a wide range of research and laser applications. asphericon provides axicons with cone angles from 140° to 179.5° with diameters of 1 and 2 inches, made from Fused Silica (UV grade), available in three different quality levels (Standard, Precision, Ultra). Beside these off-the-shelf axicons, custom axicons can also be manufactured in a large variety of shapes, sizes and materials.
Key Benefits
1.Precision polished axicons deliver exceptional performance
2.Three different levels of quality available (Standard, Precision, Ultra)
3.CNC-fabrication (grinding + polishing) guarantees superior surface roughness
4.Fused Silica axicons can be used for demanding UV-applications
5.Full traceability of each production steps and automatically recorded measurement reports available upon request
6.Delivery off-the-shelf guarantees short lead times
