16 Jun 2006 Rochester, New YorkThe Melles Griot Optics Group, manufacturer of
UltraThin and IES shutters, has announced the release of the new
ExtremeService shutter. Designed for operation in extreme environmental conditions involving large variations in temperature. The new shutter is optimized for OEM applications, such as night vision cameras and analytical instrumentation, which require compact size, low weight, and low-voltage operation.
Dr. Bruce Capron, director of sales and marketing for the Melles Griot Optics Group, states The ExtremeService shutter provides high performance and high reliability in harsh environmental conditions. Their robust, temperature-insensitive design performs flawlessly at
temperatures as low as 440°C and as high as +70°C. The blade coatings are highly emissive in the infrared spectral region, making these shutters the ideal choice for calibrating uncooled sensors in FLIR systems. The ExtremeService shutters provide the reliability and control needed for night-vision and infrared-illumination systems including a wide range of analytical, metrology, and photonics instrumentation.
Melles Griot designs, manufactures, and distributes devices that create, control, and measure light, as well as products that hold or position photonics devices. The company provides standard and
custom solutions to industrial and scientific researchers and original equipment manufacturers. With manufacturing and distribution activities in 41 countries, served industries include
