21 Aug 2006 Diode-pumped solid-state lasers occupy a large share of the solid-state laser market. In addition to the principle of laterally-arranged pump laser diodes for the optical stimulation of a laser rod is the principle of longitudinal stimulation. With longitudinal stimulation the pump energy of a pump light source (laser diode) is fed axially through the optical fiber into the laser rod.
LASER COMPONENTS manufactures the necessary optical fibers used to feed the pump energy into the laser rod. The fibers can be assembled with various core diameters and connectors. An SMA connector with a free-standing fiber is usually used to couple the pump energy from the pump light source into the fiber in order to provide the fiber with a large amount of power, but without destroying the connector. Upon request the fiber ends can also be AR coated. |
